In collaboration with Sewa Bharti's initiative of 10 Lakh tree plantation, Mrs. Lalita Nijhawan the Director of Nijhawan Group ensured the effective coordination of 'Greenathon', a tree plantation drive.
The organisations involved in this collaborative effort were Delhi South Central Rotary Group Anne Centaurian, Sonalika Group's CSR and Group of Intellectuals & Academicians (GIA).
Trees planted are garden variety and consist of shehtoot, mulberry, amrood etc, these trees have been planted all over South Delhi.
The event kick-started in Sarvodaya Girls Senior Secondary School, and was later on continued in Lalit Mahajan School Vasant Vihar. The Principal of Sarvodaya took a pledge to ensure the healthy growth of each tree, ensuring a high success rate in retention of planted trees.
The aim of this project was to increase greenery in Delhi, create a sustainable environment for the future generation, and to bring balance back to the ecology.
